Alice Miller School offers young people the opportunity to specialise in the creative arts: a rarity in Australian secondary education.

Our creative arts program is grounded in real world opportunities and experiences. Our staff have worked for organisations such as The Melbourne Theatre Company, Circus Oz, and Meredith Music Festival and bring this professional expertise to their work at the school. Our students record albums, go on tour, build sets, exhibit their artwork, excel in film competitions, and regularly perform at festivals, school productions, and musical soirées.

School productions
and soirées

Alice Miller productions provide our students with the opportunity to work with world-class scripts at a professional standard. Past musicals and plays have included Mary Poppins, an adaptation of Sweet Charity, Matilda, Dorothy Hewett’s The Man From Mukinupin, Bertolt Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera, and Shakespeare in-situ.

Musical soirées are held throughout the year featuring ensembles and soloists. The school’s annual rock festival Alicepalooza gives the stage to our numerous school bands and singer songwriters.

The Tram

We run a full-equipped recording studio out of a disused Yarra tram. In 2024, student bands took the show on the road for the inaugural Tram Tracks tour. You can listen to some of the tram recordings via the link below.
